Scott

Scott's Compassion sponsor child from the Phillipines

Name: Scott Gaunson

Nickname: The Boy

Occupation: University Student

Favourite How Ridiculous moment: I was home alone studying and the phone rang. Nothing out of the ordinary, I just answered it like I normally would, “Scott Speaking” I said….and to my amazement Geof Parry from channel 7 was on the other end of the line, wanting to know if we wanted to do a segment on the news. I nearly wet my pants after I got off the phone, full of joy and excitement itching to tell the others the good news. Despite my urgency to tell the others none of them picked up their phones. A tedious 15 minutes passed (which felt like an hour!). Finally Derek called me back from his work and I got to share the excitement with him and later with the other boys even Brett who at the time was on the other side of the world in Nepal which was incredibly ‘ridiculous’ (I’m also fantastic at puns!!!).

Other favourite moments would have to include as cliché as it sounds, getting in shots that require immense amounts of persistence for example the Boya Quarry, Raffles Apartment and the WACA light tower shots. There is such an awesome feeling of joy that comes with perseverance that is really hard to describe until you experience it for yourself. I have definitely learned that the longer and tougher a shot is the better the celebration is at the end.

Favourite How Ridiculous quote: “Yeah, well it’s the same air, the same oxygen..” – Derek after being asked if we could make the Boya Quarry shot after making the shots at Patersons Stadium.

Random fact: “The boy can be seen hurling a basketball at least 30m off a city bridge into a portable hoop which has captivated the internet”.- West Australian haha

Interests: I am interested in living a life that honours Christ in all that I do. I also love Fishing, Golf, and having outrageously big milos.

Favourite bible verse:

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”. -Galations 2:20
